Let Me Tell You About the "Free" Ski Lift Tickets

You may or may not have read my blog blurb about adding some fun/passion to your life each day as a boost to your health and well being.  Not what is practical, probable, doable.  Some have a very difficult time with this.  We are very programmed to accomplish things and fun gets left out very often.  Life is serious and times are tough.  But, if you are truly wanting to figure yourself out, what is your real purpose here , the most helpful way to do that is to identify what you think is fun, what brings you a feeling of joy.  It is different for everyone and there is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ (contrary to popular belief).

Because I endeavor to practice what I preach, I made my very own list of passions.  Places I am interested to visit, people I’d like to meet, experiences I’d like to have, even things I’d like to own.  I actually did make a list under each of those 4 categories.  One of the experiences I listed was skiing.  I haven’t skied since college…..xx? years ago.  I remember I loved it.  While raising a family and working, skiing got left off the agenda in my daily, weekly, monthly, yearly life.

Once your desires are tapped into, identified and written down, your brain will begin to look for the items ‘out there.’  It’s like realizing that you really like sunflowers and suddenly you see them everywhere.  Did they just pop up?  Or were they always there, even in the grocery store, but now you are ‘noticing’ them?  ‘ Same thing with the items you list.  BUT, there needs to be room for ‘magic’ (serendipity, Spirit, God….).  After writing out all of my desires, I could then proceed to ‘make them happen.’  I don’t doubt with a lot of hard work I could make most of them  happen, but I have put things on my list that are really outside of my human doing and the ski tickets were a bit of a ‘sign’ for me that I don’t have to always do the work.

In a conversation with a client, he mentioned he volunteered at a ski hill, I mentioned I would like to ski and hadn’t for a long time.  He gets lift tickets for free, so he gave me 2.  I did nothing to make these tickets happen.  Will skiing help me fulfill my purpose in life?  I have no idea.  Will it make me happy?  I’m pretty sure it will be a lot of fun and that makes me my fun self, which is certainly good for me and for anyone who’s with me! And I can put a check mark on my list (I LOVE doing that!).

I’m thinking I’ll go skiing tomorrow.  Forecast predicts frigid temperatures.  When I do go,   I will blog about the experience.  I’m thinking it will be a comedic posting.

Please try this at home - making a list .....or go skiing if that's what you want...let me know what happens.

Just a quick note:  There is still time (Until Feb 26th).to make a donation to the arthritis yoga fundraiser. Please visit:

On my journey back to wholeness I have explored many modalities and can honestly say the What Now Life Coaching session was one of the most illuminating (yet non-invasive) interactions I've had.

Jennifer used an interesting variety of tools to further guide me towards my "North Star" (soul's calling) and I walked away feeling grounded, comforted, validated and inspired.
